Stamp Duty to be abolished in SA for first home buyers building new homes
The South Australian state government has announced that its 2024–25 Budget will contain measures to abolish property value thresholds for both the stamp duty exemption and First Home Owner Grant.
The stamp duty exemption will be available to all first home buyers who buy a new home (including a house, flat, unit, townhouse or apartment), an off-the-plan apartment, a house and land package or vacant land to build a new home. First home buyer stamp duty relief is currently only available for eligible new homes valued below $700,000 (or $450,000 for vacant land).
